He serves currently as Commissioner General for Policy Planning under Prime Minister Manuel Valls.〔http://www.strategie.gouv.fr/equipe/jean-pisani-ferry〕 He is also a professor at the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin. Prior to this appointment, he was Director of Bruegel, the Brussels-based economic think tank. He was also a professor of economics with Université Paris-Dauphine.〔http://www.voxeu.org/index.php?q=node/346〕 ==Early life and education== Born in 1951, Pisani-Ferry was initially trained as an engineer and also holds a Master in mathematics. He holds an advanced degree in economics from the Centre d'études des programmes économiques (CEPE, Paris).
